Design Studio for your Cricut Cake

I love all the different cartridges for the Cricut but there are so many images that they don’t have. As I search the web for cake decorating ideas I’ve ran across so many creative designs!

This avatar cake is one that I came across while search the web. I love how simple it is but I know that it can’t be purchased anywhere. Avatar, the last airbender is a much anticipated movie in my house household (I have 3 boys at home) and with a birthday coming up, I know that they would love a cake like this. I’ve just purchased Design Studio for the Cricut. I should be getting it in sometime next week and will let you know how it works out. Click here purchase design studio.

Before even receiving the cricut cake I volunteered to decorate a cake for a good friend’s baby shower. I was so excited about the cricut cake that I even volunteered to bake cupcakes! LOL I do have to admit that for my first cake, its not half bad. The theme of the baby shower were butterflies and lady bugs so my first choice of cartridge was the Create a Critter Cricut Cartridge

Here’s a tip for using fondant with the cricut cake, after you’ve rolled out the fondant and placed it on the cricut sheet, let it sit for about a minute for the fondant temperature to go down and also dry out a bit, this will allow the cricut cake to cut better.

For my last project, I made cupcakes for a baby shower. The theme for the baby shower were lady bugs and butterflies so I used the Cricut cake to cut fondant into different critter cut outs. As adorable as the critters turned out, I wanted my critters to be more three dimensional than what the cricut cake provided. So by hand I used fondant to mold out a cute little lady bug, boy did it take a lot of time to mold out a little ladybug! As I was searching the web, I found these little silicone molds that would have sped up my task and accomplished exactly what I wanted! I’ll definately use these for my next project. You can find these silicone push molds for sale on eBay (click here).
